Headline says it all--five-minute repair got my Kitchenaid KSRG25FKWH17 back up and running. Like someone else mentioned in the reviews, this wasn't a *perfect* replacement, as the wire retainer wouldn't fit quite right with this one, but it's just to keep the thing from vibrating loose. I can probably either bend it a bit or just zip-tie the thing on there. Either way, it's perfectly functional and has the fridge working perfectly. The pictures are of the original unit for comparison.Lightning storm had hit, blew out a breaker and did something to the fridge. I noticed it wasn't cooling well--ice cream was getting soft--and tried to figure out what was happening. First tried defrosting fridge, but that didn't fix it. I could hear the compressor trying to come on, then shutting off after just a few seconds. Everything online said "compressor is bad, buy new fridge," but I eventually tracked down a few threads on appliance repair blogs that offered a few potential solutions. Cheaper fixes included starter relay fix (this one) and capacitor replacement. The cap tested okay. The relay seemed to test okay, too, but was oddly erratic, so I decided to chance the $40.Sure enough, the thing worked perfectly. Compressor sounded a bit rough when it first started up, but quickly smoothed. The fridge started cooling within minutes and was down to good temps within an hour.
