The motor shaft is shorter than in the original, so I wasn't able to use the original plastic fan. I used the metal fan included in the kit, but it was loud. I uninstalled and reinstalled. The second time I noticed the asymmetry of the blades and the "motor side" note on the original fan. The steeply angled side of the blades should be closer to the motor and the flatter side of the blades should be farther from the motor. With the fan installed that way, the noise is gone. (We can still hear the fan, but it is comparable to the original.)
