Our fridge went dark and we looked all over for the light replacement. The light was just easily plugged in. The hard part was getting the light cover open but besides that the light is a good purchase and was much needed.Before purchasing this part on Amazon I got a price from our Appliance repairman. He quoted $110 for the part and $95 labor. I was a little hesitant purchasing and replacing myself. I am very glad I installed myself. This part matched our existing LG light board exactly. Found a youtube video by googling "replacing lg refrigerator light" and installed myself. The removal and install was easy and part fit exactly. It was a little scary prying the clear lens off the white fixture but after re-looking at the video I pried the lens off without any damage. I assembled, installed the fixture, closed the doors and plugged in the refrigerator. The light strip is so bright I can't believe i waited so long to replace myself. You only need a medium Phillips head and a flat head screwdriver.Mos economical price I could find on line. Do not purchase the entire light assembly. You can remove the clear plastic cover after remove the entire light from the fridge. The video I saw online shows the light assembly coming out easily after removing the 2 screws. There is a pin on the front side of the light assembly that may come out with a little force. After that the light assembly comes out easy. You cannot see the electrical plug snap easily. Reach under and it moves light a teeter totter. After you have the assembly on a bench there are two interlocking tabs on the back side that you delicately spread apart to release and then on the both sides you need a narrow straight edge to separate the catch and the clear lens pops off. Be delicate with the plastic it could break easily. After putting the light in the plastic cover snaps on easily. Make sure you hear the interlocking tabs snap together and then reinstall.Uh, Amazon didn't like my first review of this because it included the word goo___, used as a verb, meaning to look for something on the internet. I was just saying you will have to search to find installation video instructions, since LG was no help at all. Anyway, the video is out there and I needed it as I could not figure out how to get the light cover off. The good news is our refrig is out of the dark! Item works perfectly, regular shipping was slow - not the shipper's fault as USPS lost it for a week. LG says to call a repairman to fix this. You can do it yourself with a phillips head screwdriver.I ordered the one for my refrigerator model, however it didn't work when I plugged it in. I rated it three stars as I can't say this item is faulty since I may have a problem elsewhere in the fridge. Really, you shouldn't need to replace an LED strip in the first place if it's a quality piece.I will not buy another LG appliance, and will limit them to my TV purchases.The vendor was great, LG less so.Essentially this is a refrigerator light that costs $90+ dollars. The life expectancy should be forever but the first only lasted 6 years. That is $!5 per year and LG says it requires a service call to do the replacement. With instructions from the web, I did my own. It would have been much easier to screw in a regular appliance bulb.Works just like new but extremely expensive. Easy to replace. Can be done by almost anybody that can use a screwdriver. Don't even think of having LG do it unless you have more money than brain. Ask your neighbor for help.Did not know how dark refrigerator was until I replaced the lights, I replaced the the ice maker and inside lights both have made refrigerator like new.
