For a not-great DIYer when it comes to electrical and plumbing, this was surprisingly easy to install, thanks to a very helpful YouTube video from AppliancePartsPros.com. The part comes without any instructions, so the video was essential. However, it leaves out one important fact that I have seen mentioned on other reviews in this space. The two screws that attach the base plate to the original ice maker are too big for attaching the base plate to the replacement ice maker, and will not fit. Somebody clearly made a design error on the replacement part. I read one reviewer who ran into this problem and machined his own screws, but I have no clue how to do that. My solution was cheap and easy. At Lowe's I purchased a small pack of #4-40 X1/2 inch machine screws and bolts. These fit the threads on the replacement ice maker perfectly, but are a little too long. So I screwed two nuts up to the head of each screw and made the head bigger, shortening the screw to just the right length. It worked great, and I have had ice for 24 hours now. We'll see how long this part lasts. One final point. Use a magnetized Phillips head screwdriver if possible; it will help with putting some of the screws into some tight spots. Now that I have ice again, it's time for a Manhattan, and I do not mean the island.
